Sonitrol Tri-County Sponsors Boys & Girls Club of Greater Flint Summer 2015 Program Opening Event

FLINT, Mich. – Young people in the Flint area can look forward to a summer rich with educational and recreational opportunities, thanks to the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Flint’s Summer 2015 activity program, which begins Wednesday, June 17 at noon at the club, located at 3701 N. Averill Ave., Flint.

Sonitrol Tri County is proud to be the sponsor of Wednesday’s kickoff event, which will include special appearances by McGruff the Crime Dog from the National Crime Prevention Council, and “Edo,” the recently acquired German Shepard from the Flint Police Department’s K-9 Unit.

“Having summer programs such as this, operated by the Boys and Girls Club, is extremely important to our community and for the well-being of our area young people,” said Mike Buckel, Sonitrol Tri-County vice president of operations, who also serves on the Boys & Girls Club’s board of directors. “In addition to providing them with fun activities and learning opportunities when schools aren’t in session, the appearances by McGruff and Edo gives youth a chance to have positive interactions with the local police force.”

The Summer 2015 program, geared towards youngsters ages 7-17, includes academic and recreational programs, field trips (including university visits for teen participants), fitness, gardening, and arts & crafts. A free daily lunch and mid-afternoon snack is offered, courtesy of the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan.
