School districts that take on capital projects to improve security are finding greater acceptance from students, staff and the community. In the words of three school district administrators who oversaw Sonitrol Great Lakes<\/a> \u2013 installed projects at their facilities, which were all previously \u201copen campuses\u201d have now earned outright support and gratitude.<\/p>\n

At Laingsburg Community Schools<\/a> in Michigan, Superintendent Matt Shastal leads a four-building district comprised of 1,160 students and 120 staff members. Following the installation of a state-of-the-art security system, which includes strategically placed cameras, alert systems, and entryway controls, Shastal remarked that \u201cstudents have commented that they are very happy that their school is safer.\u201d<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

In nearby Haslett, Michigan, Steven Cook is superintendent of Haslett Public Schools<\/a>, which has 2,860 students spread over five buildings. \u201dWe realized the need to boost our security, but at the same time didn\u2019t want to take away the friendliness of our spaces,\u201d he said. Following the completion of its security system project, Cook noted, \u201cMost of the feedback from our teachers and community has been positive. They like the idea that students and staff felt safer.\u201d<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
