Schools across\nMichigan and Illinois can add another layer of protection for students and\nstaff as Sonitrol Great Lakes<\/a> begins offering a Rapid Emergency\nResponse System (RERS).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The system can\nimmediately alert police and other first responders to an emergency, dispatch\nthem to the affected location and allow staff to quickly initiate lockdown\npractices across the facility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

RERS is an integrated indoor\/outdoor notification system\nthat begins with strategically placed devices across the campus facility. These\ncan be augmented with portable devices that can be worn on lanyards by school\nadministrators and key school personnel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both are connected to local police departments and to the\nschool\u2019s emergency notification system. When a wall unit or portable device is\nactivated, the police alert system automatically contacts first responders with\nminimal human action, and automatically communicates the threat situation\nthroughout the building via automated public address warnings and warning\nlights. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moreover, it lets the intruder know that law enforcement\nofficers are on the way and provides police and administrators with the initial\nlocation of the threat. From there, school safety response protocols are\nactivated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

RERS can be integrated with other Sonitrol Great Lakes\nsecurity hardware, including silent and panic alerts, verified audio and video\ndetection systems, and access control systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
