Sonitrol Tri-County, local police, on alert, nabbing school intruders
GRAND BLANC, Mich. – Quick action by a Sonitrol Tri-County monitoring specialist and Ferndale, Mich., Police, aided by the security company’s unique verification technology, resulted in the recent apprehension of an intruder at Ferndale High School.
The incident serves as a reminder to area school officials that with the warmer months and summer vacation ahead, school properties are especially vulnerable to crime, vandalism, burglary and other criminal acts, as most campuses have fewer staff members and security officers on hand.
“Whether it’s a prank or an intended burglary, unauthorized entry to school property is a serious incident, and we work closely with area school district officials and law enforcement to minimize these crimes, which in many cases can be very costly to district residents, “ said Mike Buckel, vice president of operations for Sonitrol Tri-County.
He noted that due to the real-time component and significant number of apprehensions made as a result of the technology, Sonitrol customers in educational institutions are able to significantly reduce costs due to property damage and loss.
